femail

femail was the replacement for the Charlotte Street website and the pre-cursor to the full Daily Mail website that didn't come until three years later.

It reproduced much of the copy from the Daily Mail as well as having original content, but was aimed squarely at women.

The site was very large, covering UK and international news as well as health, entertainment, fashion, beauty and other topics. There were substantial picture galleries, competitions, promotions, shopping services and various other partner deals throughout its life.

One of the most popular areas of the site was its message boards which built on the success of the original boards on the Charlotte Street site. Despite the replacement of the site as a whole, the distinctive colourscheme and feel of Charlotte Street was kept alive in the message boards, and indeed has been carried through to the current Daily Mail site today. The femail brand is still used as a section of the Daily Mail site too.
